Chapter 1 - We are Aqours

Part 1

Chika: Over here~! Ehehe......Thank you for earlier♪
You: And welcome to Aqours's clubroom!
Riko: We do our school idol activities here.
You: Looks like Aqours's activities will be getting strong support because of you! It's very reassuring~
Chika: Yeah. Also, I can feel that we'll get along well more and more♪
Riko: Earlier was a bit of a mess......sorry about that
Chika: Once again, let us introduce ourselves!
You: Alright! Well then, starting from me!
You: Watanabe You! A 2nd year high school student who loves sailing! I also love occupation-type uniforms, such as policewoman and firefighter♪
Riko: It's really cool when people do they're best at they're work.
You: I know right? Then, my liking escalated, that making and wearing uniforms became my hobby.
Chika: Well......To explain simply, cosplaying?
Chika: Making them is really great! You-chan also makes costumes for Aqours's
Riko: When I wear Aqours's costume It makes me truly feel that I became school idol
You: Hehehe I am very particular up to the corners.
Riko: Chika-chan, please introduce yourself♪
Chika: I am Chika Takami! 2nd year in UraGirls', member of Aqours and.......
Chika: ......oh, could it be......
Riko: What's the matter?
Chika: Now that I think about it...... There's nothing that I could add to it. Eee, what should I do!!
You: Ehh!?
Chika: Hmm.. Also, our house runs an inn?
Riko: It has history, and the atmosphere is really good. I feel envious
Chika: Is that so? It's not a gorgeous hotel It might not be that really good a place......
You: Eee! Even if it is that lovely!? Chika-chan, you're too extravagant~
Chika: But it's not like I have someone taking care of everything for me
Riko: Hihi, Chika-chan, you're not a customer so there's nothing you can do about that
Chika: Ahaha, of course......
You: We Aqours meet often in Chika-chan's place
Chika: Yup! Practicing dance there is difficult But for things like sharing song ideas it's more than enough
Chika: Come visit us next time After playing, let's go to the hotsprings together♪
Chika: I didn't get to introduce myself well But I'd be glad if we get along bit by bit and talk about many things
You: Last is Riko-chan, please introduce yourself~
Riko: I am Riko Sakurauchi Like Chika-chan and You-chan, I am a 2nd year student at Uranohoshi Girls High School
Riko: I ...... just moved here recently, So we don't do family business like Chika-chan And I also look plain
Riko: There's nothing special about me, but let's get along
Chika: Ri---ko---cha--n!!
Riko: Eh, Eehh!?
Chika: What are you saying Riko-chan! Just having you here makes us feel super energetic
Riko: Eh.....Is that so?
Chika: A super cute beautiful girl arriving from city~ Everyone's glad about that
You: That's right! In this unchanging eveyday, a school with few students Riko-chan's the hope that appeared right in front of my eyes!
Riko: No way......I was completely unaware of it
You: Which reminds me, Riko-chan, the place you were living in is a holy ground of school idols, right?
Riko: That's right. I wonder if you know, they're called μ's...... Before I came here, I was in the same school as μ's
You: μ's is a famous idol group that even won the Love Live! Competition, right? Amazing~
You: Riko-chan, could it be that you have met and shook hands with members of μ's? ...... Or rather, you went to the same school, so you might have taken the same classes with them--
Chika: Uuuu, uuuu.......
Riko: Woah, wh, why are you crying, Chika-chan!?
Chika: To be in the same school as my super beloved μ's, I'm so jealous!!!!!!!
Riko: Ehh!?
Chika: Riko-chan, that's unfair! Riko-chan's body have been at Otonokizaka Academy......
Riko: Waah, wh, why are you touching my body~!
Chika: To feel even a bit of Otonokizaka Academy's atmosphere......Sniff sniff
You: That's bad Chika-chan! That would make you a pervert!
Chika: I'm not a pervert! It's because you don't know μ's properly that you can say that!
You: That's true...... μ's is really great to the point that Chika-chan can get that high
Chika: Yeah μ's, you know, is my dream and my aspiration, but also seems like an illusion.......
Chika: Alri-ght, I have decided!!!!!
Chika: Today we'll watch μ's DVD all day long! Everyone, let's gather at my house after this
Chika: From morning till evening...... no, even till the next morning we can watch it continuously♪
Riko: Till the next morning......!? Are you serious, Chika-chan?
You: Sounds great~, I also want to see μ's perfomance!
Chika: Alri-ght, come to my house at once! Hurry up and let's go!
You: Oka-y! After that, let's research about μ's until tomorrow morning!
Riko: No way! I mean, those two have gone already......
Riko: Well...... We'll do our best from now on, so please take care of us.
Riko: Chika-chan, You-chan! Wait for me~

Part 2

Yoshiko: Hello! Are you finding the fallen angel's school comfortable, little demon?
Yoshiko: While there are nine members of Aqours, if we all came at you at once, I wouldn't stand out... Err, I mean, you'd get confused, wouldn't you?
Yoshiko: So we decided to introduce ourselves three at a time, by grade.
Yoshiko: *Squeal* I'm such a genius.
Yoshiko: New then, we first years are ready to introduce ourselves.
Yoshiko: ...............
Yoshiko: Hey, no one else is here!
Yoshiko: ...............
Yoshiko: Quit it, you two! You're making it seem like Yohane is all alone out here!
Yoshiko: Ruby! Zuramaru! Get out here this instant!
Yoshiko: Are they really not here? C'mon, don't leave me all by my lonesome!
Ruby: *Sniff* *Whimper* *Sniff*
Yoshiko: Wow, you're trembling like crazy!
Ruby: C-cuz I can't greet someone in front of other people.
Yoshiko: If you can't even say hello, you'll never be able to survive on stage as a school idol!
Ruby: *Whimper* B-but...
Ruby: Pikiii! I'm sorry! I know, I'm a useless nervous wreck!
Yoshiko: Fine, I give up. Where's Zuramaru? I know she's not a fraidy-cat. Get out here!
Hanamaru: Huh? You called me, zura?
Yoshiko: Whew... Good, you're here. Everyone in Aqours is introducing themselves, grouped by grade.
Hanamaru: Introductions, huh? Guess you gotta at least say hello.
Yoshiko: Exactly. And toay I'll give you the privilege of going first.
Hanamaru: Whattup? I'm Hanamaru Kunikida. Nice to meet'cha, zura!
Yoshiko: Too short!
Hanamaru: Aight, I'mma get going.
Yoshiko: W-wait! Oh geez, I'm all alone again!
Yoshiko: ... Ahem. It appears we're in need of a new direction.
Yoshiko: All right! Was it you who asked for an audience with Yohane, my little demon?
Yoshiko: At this moment, the only people in this world are you and I. And since we're alone, I will reveal my deepest, darkest secret.
Yoshiko: The truth is... I'm a fallen angel who was cast down from Heaven.
Yoshiko: Don't tell a soul, okay? You see, I was cast out because the denizens of Heaven were so jealous of my incredible beauty.
Yoshiko: Through Aqours, I plan to amass a legion of little demons who wish to fall with me to the deepest, darkest depths.
Yoshiko: Basically, just by cheering for Aqours, you'll automatically join Yohane on the journey to the pits of He-
Hanamaru: Yoshiko, that's not true.
Yoshiko: Z-zuramaru! How long have you been listening?
Ruby: It's okay if you want to be a fallen angel, Yoshiko, but Aqours has nothing to do with suck things.
Yoshiko: You too, Ruby>
Yoshiko: Oh, come on! You've been missing the whole time. Why'd you have to come back right as I was introducing myself!
Yoshiko: ...Ahem. Please don't misunderstand them. This "Yoshiko" they speak of is another person, completely unrelated to me.
Hanamaru: It's like how I'm Hanamaru Kunikida, but I go by Maru. Ruby Kurosawa goes by Ruby, and Yoshiko Tsushima is Yoshiko.
Yoshiko: Don't reveal my full name!
Ruby: Umm... I'm Ruby Kurosawa. Nice to meet you.
Yoshiko: Don't introduce yourself in the middle of all this madness!
Hanamaru: Yay! Ruby, you said hello!
Ruby: Th-thank you!
Hanamaru: So my house is a temple, but Uranohoshi Girls' High is a Catholic school.
Hanamaru: God takes many forms. So Yoshiko's whole fallen angel shtick actually works out just fine.
Yoshiko: Don't call it a shitck!
Yoshiko: *Pant* Can I please stop playing the straight man now? This is exhausting.
Ruby: I've also got an older sister, Her name is Dia Kurosawa.
Ruby: We're polar opposites. She's a smart, talented, raven-haired beauty. Please be good to her, as well.
Hanamaru: Ruby's cute, but her sis is a whole different type of beautiful.
Yoshiko: Now they're introducting Dia, too...
Yoshiko: See? You're capable of introducing yourselves, Though, as members of my demon army, they were a bit off.
Ruby: Oh, I just remembered! We're all supposed to go to Chika's house to watch μ's DVDs!
Hanamaru: Myooze is Chika's favorite school idol group. I'mma watch really close and learn all about them, too, zura!
Ruby: Anyone would become a fan after seeing μ's perform. You're gonna love them, Hanamaru!
Yoshiko: Hmm... This doesn't sound like something a fallen angel should concern herself with.
Yoshiko: Even though I really wanna see...
Yoshiko: I'm afraid your beloved fallen angel Yohane is much too busy to watch DVDs with the rest of you.
Ruby: C'mon Yoshiko! I wanna watch μ's.
Hanamaru: Yoshiko, if you're not ready to go home I'll help you get your stuff. Gimme your bag.
Yoshiko: *Gasp*
Yoshiko: F-f-fine, if you insist!
Yoshiko: I'm extremely busy, but if you're both that desperate for my company, I'll come with you. Lead the way!
Hanamaru: *Giggle* Now you've met the Aqours first-years. Welcome to the gang!
Ruby: W-welcome!

Part 3

Dia: What exactly were you thinking, Mari?
Mari: Hmm? About what?
Dia: This is supposed to be Aqours' initial introduction. We should be doing it in the club room, shouldn't we?
Mari: Oh, really? But the view here is to die for.
Dia: That's not an answer.
Kanan: Is it that big a deal?
Kanan: When you think about it, both the club room and the sea are part of Uchiura!
Mari: Indeed, indeed!
Dia: Dear me... You two are incorrigible.
Kanan: Ha, ha, ha. Dia, you overthink things. The place doesn't matter as long as we introduce ourselves.
Mari: Exactly! Now, let's move on and tell our new supporter about the Uranohoshi senior class!
Kanan: Mind if I start?
Mari: Be my guest.
Kanan: I'm Kanan Matsuura. I love the sea, I love Uchiura...I guess I'm just your typical Uchiura girl. Kanan: I'm also a diver. I want everyone in the world to learn about the joys of the sea... I get that from my grandfather.
Mari: Kanan's also the main attraction at her grandfather's diving shop.
Dia: Don't let her looks fool you. She's quite a shrewd businesswoman.
Kanan: Ha, ha, ha! I'm not in it to drum up business. I honestly just want to increase awareness about the sea.
Kanan: I think I'm more suited to swimming underwater than being a school idol, but I'm not one to turn down a challenge just because I'm not naturally good!
Kanan: School idols treasure their friends above all else. I think being an idol will become very important to me in time.
Kanan: I hope that by working together, we'll all walk away from this with memories that last a lifetime. Glad you're with us!
Mari: Oh, I'm not planning on stopping with just a few happy memories.
Kanan: Mari...
Mari: I'm Mari Ohara. You can just call me Mari!
Mari: Have you taken a good look around town? Uchiura is such a beautiful place.
Mari: My father runs an international hotel chain, so I've traveled all over the world.
Mari: The second I set foot in this little port town, my antennae perked straight up!
Kanan: Wow, really?
Dia: Mari, you're exaggerating again.
Mari: I would never! I knew right away I'd enjoy every day of my life in this wonderful, shiny town. I felt it deep in my heart!
Mari: And we've gathered a bevy of beauties in Aqours that even the town itself can't outshine.
Mari: I'm sure there are lots of incredible school idols in places like Akihabara, Tokyo, but our idols can complete with anyone!
Mari: My dream is to take us higher and higher!
Mari: Someday I'll sail across this sea and make a big splash in Tokyo!
Dia: Sail...You know you can get to Tokyo from here without a boat, right?
Mari: No, I meant a big splash, like with a big boat! I'm just trying to show my spirit.
Kanan: *Chuckle* Sounds fun.
Kanan: So, you're not just here to make happy memories... I could learn a thing or two from you.
Dia: It's a good point. You'll never get anywhere if you give up before you even get started.
Mari: Starting right now, all the days ahead are sure to be shiny and sparkly. Let's charge forward together!
Dia: Ahem. Moving on...
Dia: I am Dia Kurosawa. I'm a senior here at Uranohoshi Girl's High School, and the student council president as well.
Kanan: She's smart, beautiful, and a natural leader!
Mari: Dia and Ruby shine every bit as brightly as the jewels they're named for. In fact, aren't you two quite famous for being so pretty?
Kanan: Probably. They're both very beautiful, even if their personalities are completely different.
Dia: Originally, I was opposed to the whole idea of Aqours.
Kanan: Oh no, not this again. You're into it now, so what difference does it make.
Mari: I agree. There's no need to dredge up the past as long as you're amenable to it now.
Mari: Honestly Dia, it's not cute at all.
Dia: What-What...
Dia: I'm perfectly aware that I'm not cute!
Dia: I know...that I'm not like Ruby.
Mari:Huh?
Kanan: Dia, that's not what she meant.
Dia: .................
Kanan: If you don't show how you feel right now, it'll seem like you're the only one who isn't motivated.
Dia: That would...be regrettable. You see, at first I was opposed to Aqours, but now...
Dia: *Chuckle* But now what?
Dia: Now, I approve!
Mari: Pfft! Ha, ha, ha! You approve? Oh Dia, you're serious to a fault.
Dia: What?! That wasn't supposed to be funny.
Mari: Loosen up a little. Just say something casual, like how you really like Aqours now.
Dia: But...
Mari: You do like Aqours, don't you?
Dia: Of course I do. I just need some time to prepare myself before talking about the things I love.
Kanan: *Giggle* Dia, you're adorable.
Dia: Please stop teasing me.
Mari: So as you can see, Aqours is very near and dear to all three of us.
Kanan: Hopefully we'll all learn and grow together.
Dia: Indeed. And I'm sure the other six members feel the same way.
Mari: Oh, I just remembered.
Mari: After we're done here, we're all supposed to go to Chika's house for a μ's DVD viewing party!
Dia: That's right. As the old saying goes, you must know yourself as well as your enemy.
Dia: Learning about your enemy is the first step.
Kanan: μ's isn't our enemy...Well, whatever. I'm excited to watch their performances!
Mari: I hope we'll all become wonderful friends. Shall we go?

Part 4

Chika: It's Muse! Just look at them go!
Kanan: Chika, you've said that a couple hundred times already.
Dia: I can't believe we actually stayed up all night watching DVDs...*Yawn* This isn't good for my skin.
Hanamaru: I'mma fall asleep sitting up...
Ruby: Mmm...
Yoshiko: *Snore*
Ruby: *Snort* Bwuh? I'm awake! I'm not asleep!
You: That's it! I've got an idea for a new costume!
You: *Snore*
Riko: Is You talking in her sleep?
Mari: Wow, look outside! The sun's coming up.
Chika: Really? Let's check it out.
Chika: Holy smokes, it is! Look, everyone! The sunrise!
Riko: The sky's such a vivid orange. It's beautiful.
Dia: It's a sight I'd rather see after waking up early instead of pulling an all-nighter, but it really is pretty.
Ruby: I'm so glad we could all see it together.
Yoshiko: Ungh...The morning sun's light is really harsh on a fallen angel.
Hanamaru: You okay, Yoshiko? Here, hold my hand.
Yoshiko: Th-Thanks...
Mari: What a gorgeous view. It's almost like the sun is here to celebrate our ship setting sail.
Kanan: Ha, ha, ha. The good shop Aqours, huh?
You: Full speed ahead! Unfurl the sails! Aqours is heading out to start its journey. Aye aye!
Riko: Maybe I shouldn't say this so plainly, but...
Riko: Right now, I'm really glad that I joined Aqours, and that I'm sharing this morning with all of you.
Riko: How about you, Chika?
Chika: Yeah!
Chika: I started a school idol club because I love school idols so much, but the truth is, I barely know anything.
Chika: Even right now, I feel like I'm just having fun watching μ's perform, rather than researching how to put together live shows.
Dia: Perhaps we need to have more discussions on what concrete actions we should be taking.
Chika: I understand that we'll have to work our tails off or we'll never get anywhere
Ruby: You know...
Ruby: I used to think I'd never be a school idol. Now that I'm with all of you, I feel like I can do it.
You: Yeah, me too!
Dia: It's not based on anything, but I feel the same way.
Hanamaru: We've got a lot to look forward to.
Mari: I agree with everyone, but we can't get be on confidence alone. We've got to buckle down and press forward.
Chika: Yes!
Kanan: I'll do whatever I can to support all of you.
Chika: Working hard without ever slacking off... That's kind of a difficult for me, but I'll try my best!
Yoshiko: We haven't come up with anything for our live show, but I know there are lots of little demons out there who can't wait to see us.
You: Yeah. So if we're gonna do a live show, what kind of vibe should we be going for?
Riko: We'll have to gradually settle on the music and get the costumes together.
Dia: We should probably go with something close to a traditional Japanese dance, don't you think?
Mari: Oh, no. Wouldn't rock music be a better choice?
You: Like riding on a big wave, and crashing into the shore? Sounds cool!
Ruby: I like cute things... What do you think, Hanamaru?
Hanamaru: I really don't know what to say...
Riko: Well, for example, what kind of music would sync up with the things you like to do?
Hanamaru: Things I like... Great authors?
Chika: Great author music?
Dia: Come on. There's no such thing.
Yoshiko: Forget that! Yohane's presence demands a hellish score.
You: We need originality. I vote for a sailor song!
Riko: Hellish...great authors...I can't imagine what that would sound like.
Kanan: Ha, ha, ha. It's a nine-way split.
Chika: Maybe, but I think that individuality is a good thing!
Riko: Yeah. It keeps things interesting. I'm starting to get excited!
Mari: *Chuckle* We've got some fun days ahead of us.
Chika: Umm... As you can see, Aqours is finally about to get started.
Chika: Everything might not go according to plan, but I'm not going to give up, no matter what.
Chika: μ's taught me that.
Riko: Let's all do our best
You: With your support, I just know we'll be able to go the extra mile.
Chika: I guess what I'm saying is, the nine girls of Aqours...
All: Are counting on you!

Chapter 2 - What's a School Idol?

Part 1

Riko: *Hum*
Hanamaru: You look like you're in a good mood, zura.
Riko: Hee, hee. I was just thinking how great it is that we've become real school idols, and it made me smile.
Ruby: Yeah. We've even got a name and everything. Everyone in Aqours is a true-blue school idol now!
Dia: I understand where you're coming from, but aren't you getting a bit ahead of yourselves?
Kanan: It's true. At this point, Aqours is still standing at the starting line. We've got lots of work to do.
You: We've gotta start discussing what kind of songs we should pick, and what our costumes should look like.
Mari: And how we can make our performance extra shiny, so we get really popular!
Yoshiko: I want a song that's appropriate for a fallen angel. Something cool and beautiful at the same time.
Riko: A fallen angel song... Is that something all of us will be able to sing?
Hanamaru: I could probably handle being a temple of fallen angel, I guess.
You: Do you have any ideas, Chika?
You: Huh? Where'd Chika go?
Riko: Oh... I could've sworn she was here a minute ago.
Mari: Perhaps she went to the classroom or the roof. Let's go look for her.
Chika: *sigh*
Ruby: Hey, there's Chika!
Chika: Hrmm...
Mari: What's wrong, Chika?
Riko: Are you not feeling well?
You: If your stomach hurts, I'll give you a tummy rub.
Chika: T-Thanks, but it's not a stomachache.
Chika: I've just had something weighing on my mind lately.
Yoshiko: Whoa, hold your horses! It's not like you to suddenly get philosophical, Chika.
Chika: I just keep thinking about it all day, every day. *Sigh* How am I suppose to live like this?
Kanan: Is it that serious?!
Hanamaru: Maybe we can help.
Dia: Chika, please tell us what's going on. Perhaps we can help you solve your problem.
Chika: Okay... Thanks, everyone.
Chika: I've just been wondering... After all this talk about school idols...
Chika: What the heck IS a school idol?!
You & Riko: Huh?
You & Riko: Whaaaaaaat?!
Yoshiko: You're just now asking that?!
Chika: I mean, I'm not ignorant. I know what school idols are like.
Chika: They're super cute, and they have this... this... This aura about them!
Ruby: An aura?
Hanamaru: I'm not sure what an aura is. Ruby, do you have one?
Ruby: I don't think so.
Hanamaru: Well, if you don't have one, then I definitely don't.
Chika: I thought when we became school idols, our lives were gonna completely change. Like...
Student: Whoa! That's Chika Takami, the school idol!
Student: We should all go and greet the idols together.
Student: Let's scatter rose petals all around the school entrances for when they arrive.
Student: Then we'll give them a big round of applause as they walk by!
You: Whoa, whoa, WHOA! That's nuts!
Kanan: Chika... you've got quite an imagination.
Riko: If people made that big of a fuss every time we arrived, we wouldn't even be able to come to school anymore.
Chika: A-Ah, ha, ha... Maybe you're right.
Chika: We've got all these ideas about what we want to do, but we haven't decided on anything concrete.
Chika: When I think about what the next step should be, I get so overwhelmed that my head starts spinning!
Riko: Chika, you're really worked up, aren't you?
Mari: So, to put it in simple terms, you want a specific definition of what a school idol is?
Chika: I... think so.
Hanamaru: I see. Perhaps you want to go back to the basics of a school idol?
Kanan: I don't think there's a very strict definition for school idols... but I wonder.
You: Yeah! Heck, every high school girl in the world is a school idol!
Riko: *Giggle* I think that might be going a little too far.
Ruby: Well, isn't any high school girl who sings and dances technically a school idol?
Riko: It's not like you have to take a test...
Yoshiko: Aqours is already a super-popular school idol group in the underworld.
Dia: We're not talking about the underworld. We're talking about Uchiura.
Yoshiko: Yohane lives in Numazu, not Uchiura.
Riko: Maybe there's something other school idols have that we don't.
Kanan: Well, we haven't been at it very long. You can't blame us for not being that good at it.
Chika: Ability is part of it... but there's something more.
You: Something bigger and more important than raw ability?
Mari: Hmm. If we can figure out what it is, we might make more progress.
Ruby: I'd be so happy if I could get even a little bit closer to all my favorite school idols.
You: The school idols in the magazines are definitely different from us somehow. Here, Kana. Take a look.
Kanan: Hmm... Now that you say that, it does feel like something's different.
Dia: *Gasp*
Mari: What is it, Dia? Did you figure it out?
Dia: Yes. This is just a theory...
Dia: But the difference between us and other school idols is...
Chika: Is...

Part 2

Dia: Is that all the other school idols...
Dia: Have a fashionable, metropolitan style about them!
Mari: Metro...politan?
Chika: Oh... Oh!
Chika: Wh-When you put it that way...
Yoshiko: I don't buy it! Aqours is totally fashionable and metropolitan.
Ruby: I get it. I think all school idols are fashionable!
Kanan: Maybe urban school idols are just more stylish in their everyday lives, as well.
Ruby: Yeah! Their outfits and accessories are to die for.
Ruby: I cut out my favorite pictures from my magazines and save them. I want to dress just like them!
Chika: So the school idol aura that we're lacking comes from being trendy and fashionable.
Riko: Eh, heh, heh... I'm glad we found an answer, but at the same time I kinda wish we hadn't...
You: The truth hurts.
Riko: I wish I'd brought some of that with me when I moved here from Tokyo. I'm sorry, everyone.
Mari: Oh, come on. This whole "metropolitan" thing is way too vague. I have no idea what we're talking about!
Hanamaru: *Sip* Ahh, this tea is so good, zura.
Ruby: Hanamaru, you're so relaxed.
Hanamaru: We are the direct opposite of urban stylishness, zura.
Hanamaru: It's futile for us to even try to become city girls, zura.
Chika: All this seems so beneath her!
Dia: Well... It's true that we're lacking in the urban style department.
Chika: Maybe if we can get some of that style we'll become way more popular!
Yoshiko: I would like to know how they write their songs, and how they make such fancy costumes.
You: Do you think we can still learn this late in the game?
Kanan: I don't think we'll completely transform ourselves, but we might come out looking a little more trendy.
Mari: That settles it!
Dia: Huh?!
Mari: Unmotivated school idols are not shiny.
Chika: Mari?
Mari: Let's do it, girls. Let's make ourselves fashionable!
Mari: Then, we'll grow leaps and bounds as school idols!
You: Okay. Then I move we start investigating the city!
Ruby: Yes ma'am!
Yoshiko: Leave it to me. This stuff is Yohane's specialty.
Dia: Let's examine all our magazines and find the differences between those idols and ourselves.
Hanamaru: Look at this... There are unnatural amount of people crossing this intersection.
Kanan: Wow you're right. Why're all those people there? Is there a festival or something?
You: Well, it's a city. I bet this was taken right after a big concert let out.
Chika: Oh, good call! You, you're so smart.
Riko: Ah, this is the Shibuya intersection. There are always huge crowds crossing there.
Kanan: Always? Like, every day? Even in the afternoon? Don't tell me there're that many people around at night, too.
Yoshiko: No way. Night is when the fallen angels come out! Everyone else is sleeping soundly in their beds.
Mari: Heh. You all are so sheltered. In the city, adults are busy even late into the night!
Yoshiko: You're kidding... right?
Chika: Do people in the city not sleep at night? When do they sleep? In the morning?
Ruby: But it's so dark at night. They could trip and fall into a ditch, or even the sea! It's too dangerous.
Hanamaru: I don't think there are ditches or seas in the city, zura.
Ruby: Oh, I see... Wow, that's awesome!
Chika: We've visited Tokyo before...
You: There were so many people, and just so many things, it felt like we were in another country, right?
Chika: Yeah! Just getting out of the train station was tough enough, it was even harder to get about outside!
Dia: In summary, if we're going to take on the world, we need to become more capable all-around.
Dia: I'm ready for the challenge. We've got no shortage of opponents out there!
Ruby: Sis, Tokyo and Uchiura are both part of Japan...
Kanan: Hold it, hold it. Those fashionable city idols aren't enemies for us to fight. They're role models we should pattern ourselves after!
Mari: Well, now that we've depressed ourselves with how lacking we are compared to the metro school idols, what say we cheer ourselves up with a shopping trip?
Yoshiko: *Sigh* This shopping trip was such a let down!
Hanamaru: I thought Numazu would be good enough for what we want.
Ruby: I wanted a purse like the one I saw in the magazine... *Sniffle*
Dia: Don't cry, Ruby. Here, I'll wipe away those tears.
Ruby: Okay...
Chika: I was hoping having the same things as the city school idols make us just like them.
Kanan: If we can't have them, we'll have to find another way.
Yoshiko: You think it'll be enough to give ourselves a really fashionable vibe?
Hanamaru: If we're gonna experiment, we might as well go all in. Maybe a miracle'll happen and we'll all turn into trendy city girls!
Chika: I want to become like a big city school idol as soon as possible.
You: Then let's go out there, get some fashionable outfits, and become school idols with crazy powerful auras!
Chika: Yeah!
Riko: Tee-hee. Let's do it!

Part 3

Yoshiko: Are you kidding me?!
Yoshiko: You're a school idol. You're telling me you've never heard of macaroons?!
Hanamaru: I really haven't. Honest, zura.
You: I've heard the word before in school idol songs. I always wondered what they were.
Yoshiko: Pfft... You guys know nothing about metropolitan fashion.
Yoshiko: Although, everyone here except for Yohane is a country bumpkin.
Dia: Yoshiko, you're just like the rest of us.
Yoshiko: I know I've only just moved here from the underworld, but I can already tell there's a huge difference between Uchiura and Numazu.
Kanan: True... I guess there is a bit of a gap.
Yoshiko: Numazu has a population of around 200,000!
You: All right, Yoshiko! Teach us everything there is to know about macaroons!
Yoshiko: You see, macaroons are special things you wear in your hair!
Riko: Huh?
Yoshiko: In other words, they're hair accessories!
Chika: Really? Wow, you sure know your stuff!
Yoshiko: I know, right? Also, a little known fact is that macaroons actually originate from the underworld.
Hanamaru: Hunh...I'd love to decorate my head with one, zura.
Riko: Excuse me...
Riko: Umm... I think macaroons are a kind of pastry.
Yoshiko: What?!
Chiak: Whoa, really?
Riko: They're round, pastel-colored little cakes. At least, I'm pretty sure they are.
Ruby: I see! Macaroons sound delicious.
Hanamaru: *Glare*
Yoshiko: Wh-What're you looking at?
Yoshiko: I just got this world's macaroons mixed up with the ones from down below, that's all. Hanamaru: Yoshiko, don't lie, zura.
Mari: Wait, wait, don't tell me! You've transformed into Lie-hane now?
Yoshiko: N-N-N-Never! I wasn't lying! Please, as if I didn't know what macaroons are.
Yoshiko: I'm the personification of truth and honesty.
Mari: Acting like a know-it-all isn't becoming of a school idol. It's very uncool.
Yoshiko: I-I did know, I swear!

Ruby: I was thinking the other day how nice it'd be if there was a burger joint or coffee house on the way home from school.
Ruby: I won't drink coffee because it's too bitter, but it sure feels cool, right?
Kanan: Good idea! Too bad we've got such limited options around here.
Mari: What say we create our own fast food place right next to Uranohoshi?
Riko: Huh?!
Mari: If Uchiura lacks something, we should get to work and make it ourselves!
You: Wow! That's the kind of have-it-all thinking I'd expect from a rich girl!
Chika: A hamburger joint, a crepe place, a donut store... Oh, what about a trendy knick-knacks store?
Yoshiko: You think this will make us more fashionable?
Hanamaru: This is gonna be awesome. Maybe we'll turn ourselves into real city girls.
Kanan: All of us discussing a new song while sitting together at a hamburger joint would make for a pretty cute pic.
Ruby: Oh, I'd love to do that!
Chika: I see, I see! So this is how urban school idols operate.
Kanan: Our after-school meetings would be even more fun.
Mari:So we all agree? The plan is to make a combination hamburger joint, crepe place, donut shop, and knick-knacks store next to the school building!
Dia: I object.
Mari: Why? Think about how much more fun our school life would be.
Dia: I don't see any way this idea would be profitable.
Chika: Why's that?
Dia: Isn't it obvious? Because we'd have no customers.
Mari: You've gotta spend money to make money! Dia, you just don't understand how businesses operate.
Dia: *Growl*
Dia: Please don't make me repeat myself. We can NOT do this!
Mari: Dia, you're such a killjoy!
Chika: P-Please, don't fight!

Chika: *Sigh*
You: Moving on... It looks like we've learned one thing from this discussion.
You: Only city girls can be urbane!
Hanamaru: All that work for such a sad conclusion, zura...
Kanan: Well, it is what it is, right?
Ruby: We can't be cute like the girls from Tokyo without living in Tokyo ourselves...
Hanamaru: Sorry, Ruby. I wish I could've been more help.
Chika: *Gasp* Is that the only option we have left, then?!
Kanan: D-Don't tell me you're gonna move to Tokyo!
You: Huh?! I can't just pick up and move! That's going too far!
Dia: It seems like I'll have to use my abilities to build Uchiura up into a huge metropolis.
Yoshiko: That's impossible!
Kanan: Even if it were, it'd take decades to get to that point.
Mari: Wait.
Hanamaru: Yes, Mari?
Mari: Heh, heh. We mustn't let this end on such a sad note!
Mari: Let's save the idea of becoming fashionable for another day, and go back to the topic of figuring out what school idols really are.
Mari: Why don't we try to look at what makes a school idol from another point of view?

Chapter 30 - Our Light Show

Part 1

Chika:*Sigh* Tokyo winters are so trendy. They're so lucky.
Riko: What're you looking at Chika?
Hanamaru: Looks like a Tokyo guidebook, zura. It says, "Special evening illumination issue."
You: They even have dinner cruises in Tokyo Bay! I've always thought of cruises as a summer activity. That looks like fun!
Kanan: The water in the bay's nice and calm. I bet the lights look spectacular from a boat. The cruise is probably very popular.
Ruby: A party on the deck of a white boat at Christmas time. How romantic! Oh, look, Dia! They have pleasure boats, too!
Dia: I also thought of cruises as summertime activities, but I see they offer sailing on pleasure boats during the winter, too.
Mari: It'd be wonderful to ride in a kimono instead of just a yukata. Why don't we give it a shot?
Yoshiko: It's tempting, but the costs must be through the roof.
Chika: *Sigh* You're right. Not being able to go whenever I want makes Tokyo that much more alluring...
Riko: B-But daydreaming can be fun, too. You don't see guidebooks talking about how the huge crowds make it hard to walk around.
Hanamaru: I'm happy just picturing it, zura! I think reading a book and getting lost in the world of your imagination can be as fun as the real thing, zura.
Ruby: Yeah, yeah! Whenever I'm reading a good book, I can't help but get pulled into its world.
Riko: That happens to me, in a way. When I', playing the piano, I start thinking about the country where the piece was composed.
Yoshiko: Thanks for the reminder. I, Yohane, mustn't be remiss in contacting my kin who remained behind in the faraway lands.
Hanamaru: Yoshiko. you really care about your shtick, zura.
Yoshiko: Don't call it a shtick! I'm very busy hopping back and forth between the human and demon worlds!
You: When I see a big boat, I imagine what waters it has sailed to get where it is.
Chika: Still, seeing the city lit up from a cruise ship...No, even just walking around in the lights would be so much fun.
Dia: If we're talking about beautiful views, the sights in Hakodate were quite lovely.
Kanan: It was nice seeing a new place. Going around to all the different towns and walking under their lights was a great time.
Mari: Hee, hee. All the live shows were so awesome, the scenery looked especially shiny!
Chika: It really was gorgeous, seeing those lights shine against the night sky. Riko, what does it feel like to see the Tokyo illumination in person?
Riko: What does it feel like? Umm, I don't know how to describe it. I think the guidebook would have more to say than me.
Chika: I was just wondering what you see when you close your eyes and picture Tokyo all lit up, that's all.
Riko: In Tokyo, they start putting up lights after Halloween. Seeing them always drove home the idea that winter was on its way.
Kanan: I see. I guess the biggest events before Christmas would be for Halloween. That'd be fun to see, too!
Yoshiko: A one-night-only event where my brethren come to the surface and mingle with humans. Mu, ha, ha.
Ruby: Eeek! I don't like scary things.
Hanamaru: Yoshiko, I bet in your world, Christmas is a time for the fallen angel Yohane to descend on the holiest of nights! Something like that, right, zura?
Yoshiko: How'd you know?! Are you psychic?
Mari: Autumn and winter nights in Tokyo are especially romantic.
You: You don't see big light displays living in Uchiura. Does it feel like part of everyday life in Tokyo?
Riko: Everyday life, huh? Maybe so. Akihabara in the winter is very lively. My favorite was going to see the Christmas tree light-up at UTX High School.
Chika: What else? What're the lights like in Shinjuku?
Riko: I didn't go to Shinjuku much, but I can tell you about Ikebukuro.
Yoshiko: That's my Lili! You don't forget about 'Bukuro!
Riko: Umm, uhh, well, the trees along the streets would be lit up, and there'd be beautiful pieces of art in front of the station. They were very pretty.
Hanamaru: Lights, art, it all sounds like a dream, zura! Tokyo really is the cutting edge of trendiness, isn't it?
Ruby: I bet it'd be easy to get lost, but I'd love to go anyway.
Dia: I'll make sure to hold your hand so that doesn't happen, Ruby.
Riko: Talking about it has made me feel like I've just seen those captivating lights. Maybe I'll write a song about them?
Chika: Me too! I bet seeing those lights would inspire the loveliest lyrics!
Hanamaru: I'm sure it'd be a romantic tune, zura.
Mari: Then we'll want to have Chika add her sweet lyrics on top of that tune, right?
Riko: Th-That might be a little embarrassing.
Kanan: If it's inspired by the Tokyo lights, I'm sure it'd be a very special song.
Dia: And a song that would surely evoke thoughts of loved ones. The meaning might even change depending on who you wish you could see the lights with.
Chika: Well, I wish I could see the lights with Aqours. I'm picturing us all walking through a see of twinkling stars.
You: Kinda sounds like how the audience looks from up on stage.
Riko: That's a good analogy! It's a scene that's full of hopes and dreams. If I went to see them now, it might feel like something special after all.
Chika: I'm sure it would! That settles it, I wanna see the Tokyo illuminations in person! Riko, you gotta take us!
Kanan: That's easier said than done.
Chika: Hey, I know! Can't we apply to do a Christmas live show somewhere?
You: I did some research, but the application periods are closed for everything I saw.
Chika: Can we not even do a day trip? I'm sure we could at least afford round-trip train fare.
Ruby: With as late as we'd have to stay, I'd be worried about missing the last train home.
Dia: The real show isn't until nighttime. If you want to get the full effect, we'd be much safer staying overnight.
Chika: *Whine* I guess it's gonna be too hard to make this work. *Sigh* I wish we had something like that here in Uchiura.
Mari: Then why don't we just do it ourselves?
You: Huh?! Is that even possible?
Mari: Of course! I know just the place.
Kanan: There's somewhere we can do a light show in Uchiura? Oh, wait. You've already got a plan, don't you, Mari?
Chika: Tell us, Mari!
Mari: It's almost Christmas. Why don't we illuminate our school with homemade decorations?
Hanamaru: I-Illuminations at school? It's the future, zura!
Ruby: Homemade light? That sounds so exciting!
Dia: The student body would definitely enjoy it, too. I think it's a great plan.
Chika: Nice idea, Mari! Let's dress up our school and make it shine!
Together: Yeah!

Part 2

Chika: I'm here, everyone! Sorry I'm late!
You: Good morning, Chika. Wow, that's a huge box of stuff you've got there.
Chika: *Giggle* I was so excited for our discussion, I got all kinds of books and pamphlets on light ups. It'd be nice if we could hang snow globes, too!
Riko: Uchiura doesn't get much snow, so it'd be fun if we had lots of snow-themed decorations.
Hanamaru: Snow and lights are such an ideal pairing, zura!
Ruby: Leah told me that they have lights all along Hakodate Bay. She said they blend in perfectly with the snow at night, and that it's very beautiful.
Yoshiko: Speaking of Hakodate, I'd love to do something modeled after the star illumination of Goryokaku.
Hanamaru: Making a circle to summon more little demons, zura?
Yoshiko: Mu, ha, ha. I'll draw an even bigger circle and summon a huge little demon, Zuramaru! I expect I can count on all my little demons to help, right?
Mari: If we're modeling decorations after Goryokaku, I'm sure we can create some beautiful, shiny star lights!
Dia: Yes. Putting aside the whole summoning plan, it would really make for a lovely atmosphere.
Kanan: If we're making them for the school. we should have some Uchiura Sea-themed lights, too. I think a soft blue glow would be really pretty.
Mari: With coloring little fish swimming through the sea of light? That'd be so cute!
Chika: Remember, these are Christmas lights. We'll need to get a big Christmas tree. We can trim it with lots of snowflake decorations!
You: That would definitely put everyone in the Christmas spirit!
Mari: As this is a school-wide event, we should invite everyone to make their own decorations and put them up.
Dia: They would love that. We could even open it to the locals so that people could drop in as they please to see the show.
Kanan: Good idea. I bet the little kids would especially be happy.
Chika: Well, we've got lots of ideas and a solid theme. Hopefully we can make ours as pretty as the scenes in these magazines. Like Hakodate, or Shinjuku!
Ruby: Eeek!
Hanamaru: Ruby, what's wrong, zura?
Ruby: Leah just texted me. She says the Hakodate light show has over a million LEDs!
You: A-And Shinjuku has over three million.
Riko: I guess when you have a larger area to cover, you need lots of bulbs and LEDs.
Chika: There's no way we can get that many!
Dia: Especially if we're doing a handmade light show. It'll be difficult to make something on that scale.
Kanan: We've got nine people working on this. Let's put our heads together and figure out what we can do.
Chika: I know! what about the lights they use on fishing boats.
You: They're a little too big and bright. I don't think they're suited for this kind of light show.
Hanamaru: Oh, can we use Christmas lights? Maybe people in the neighborhood will let us borrow theirs.
Ruby: We've got pink and white Christmas lights back at our house. They're really pretty, right Dia?
Dia: Yes! They're designed to be taken off the tree after Christmas, so they'd be perfect for our show.
Kanan: I'll see if I've got anything at my house we can use.
Mari: I can bring a huge tree from my place!
Yoshiko: You'll need Yohane's ceremonial tools. They're yours to use as you see fit, little demons.
Riko: We should make the snow-themed decorations by hand.
You: I've got leftover fabric and ribbons from making costumes. Maybe we could make something cute to act as our mascot?
Ruby: Something fluffy, like snow, but with lots of ribbons tied on. That'd be adorable!
Mari: Sounds very cute and oh so precious! Maybe Santa himself will show up!
Hanamaru: We can turn the school into a storybook world, zura. I'm so excited, I can't sit still, zura!
Chika: I can't wait to get started! First we need the tree, then Yoshiko's magic circle, then lights that represent the Uchiura Sea!
Yoshiko: If we can't use modern lights, we'll need to tap into more ancient powers.
Riko: Do you have something in mind, Yoshiko?
Yoshiko: Yes. The fallen angel Yohane shall bequeath her Hellfire unto all of you.
Mari: Hellfire on the holy night, huh? Just hearing it has me feeling a bit guilty.
Ruby: I hope it's not too scary.
Hanamaru: I think Yoshiko's Hellfire is actually candles, zura.
Chika: Of course! You always use candles in your videos, right Yoshiko?
Yoshiko: You mean the marvelous ritual where I communicate directly with my little demons? ...Wait a sec, how did you know that?!
Hanamaru: You're more popular than you think, zura.
Dia: I think candles are a great solution. Unfortunately, bringing a lot of them into the school could be problematic.
Kanan: Light shows and illuminations are usually held outdoors. Can we just do it in the courtyard.
Mari: That's a nice idea! We'll deck out the whole courtyard and make it into the cutest Christmas illumination ever!
You: Powered by candles. no less. It's going to look so glamorous. We'll need as many as we can get our hands on.
Riko: We could put them in old glass cups and jelly jars. I'll go see if there are any glass containers that will work.
Chika: Me too! I'll go ask Shima and Mito and see what I can get.
Kanan: I think we've got some old glass floats at home. Let me see if any of them will work with candles.
Mari: I'm sure if I tell the kitchen staff about our need for empty jam jars, they'd be happy to spare what they can. I'll start stocking up right away!
Dia: I'll look for glass containers as well. And on that note, I think we've just about solidified our plans for our light show.
Chika: We're going to have the most dazzling illuminations people have ever seen. I can't wait to put them up!
Ruby: I'm excited about trimming the Christmas tree!
Yoshiko: And Yohane looks forward to drawing a gigantic magic circle.
You: Since we're going through so much effort, it'd be nice if we could leave things up for a few days, like the Tokyo illuminations.
Hanamaru: I wanna see them from up on the roof, zura!
Mari: *Giggle* Leave all the applications to me. We're going to have a wonderful night of lights that are packed full of all your dreams!

Adventure Stroll: Nakamise Shopping Arcade

Prologue

Chika: What a fun shopping trip! We sure bought a lot of supplies for costume-making. I already wish we could go out again!

You: Chika, Chika, Chika!

Chika: Oh, hi, You! What's up?

You: What's the biggest, most amazing summer event in Numazu?

Chika: Y-You're quizzing me? Umm... Oh! Next week's big fireworks show, right?

You: Ding, ding, ding! I picked up a flyer for it outside the train station. You want to go again this year?

Chika: You know it! Oh, what is all nine of us in Aqours go together? That’d be even more fun.

You: Good idea! I bet we’ll have a great time. In fact, why don't we go all-out and wear our yukata, too?

Chika: Count me in! You can't get any more summery then going to see fireworks in a yukata. I can't wait!

You: Then let's find the others, and... Huh?

Chika: What's wrong?

You: Y-You're kidding me... The fireworks are TODAY!

Chika: What?! Y-You're right! The flyer even says it's today. I was sure it was next week!

You: Now that I think about it, I did notice a whole lot of people wearing yukata today. It must’ve been for tonight's fireworks show…

You: Aww, this stinks. There's no way everyone will be available on such short notice.

Chika: It can't hurt to ask. We just split up for the day, so they should still be nearby.

You: Yeah. Where do you think they are?

Chika: Hmm... I think Kanan and Riko mentioned something about going out for a drink together.

You: A-A drink? Like people who just got off work?!

Chika: A senior and Junior employee discussing life over drinks…

You: R-Rikoooooooo! Kanaaaaaaaan!

Part 1

Riko: Ahh... This is so cool and refreshing. And it's easier to drink than I thought it’d be.

Kanan: Right? Lately I've been stopping here for an iced coffee every day after practice. Nothing like a tall cold one to ease the weariness of a long day! *Giggle*

Riko: *Giggle* Kanan, you sound like an old man.

Chika: There they are!

Kanan: Oh, it's Chica and You.

You: Aww, they're just drinking coffee…

Kanan: Huh?

You: Nothing, never mind. Running here made me all sweaty. Maybe I'll have a drink, too.

Riko: Wanna try an iced coffee, You? It's Kanan’s favorite.

Chika: Your favorite, huh? Can I have a sip?

Kanan: Hey! Get your own! Oh, but Chika, I thought you didn't like coffee.

Chika: I don't... but Riko looks like she's enjoying hers, and if it's your favorite, I bet all like it too.

Kanan: Really?

Riko: Do you want to sip of mine? *Giggle* Go right ahead.

Chika: Thanks. Don't mind don't mind if I do! *Gulp* Ungh… Too bitter.

Kanan: Thought so. That's what happens when you force yourself.

Rko: A-Are you okay? Do you want some syrup?

Chica: Yes…

Kanan: By the way, what is it you two wanted to talk to us about?

You: Oh, I almost forgot. Tonight's the big firework show in Numazu. We were thinking we could all wear our yukata and go together. Are you two free?

Riko: Fireworks? That's so cool! I'm in!

Kanan: I don't have any plans, so I'll come too. I don't know if I have a yukata, though. I'll go look.

Chika: Hooray! Hopefully everyone else will be free, too.

You: Yeah! Where should we look next?

Part 2

Chika: A bookstore!

You: And a bookstore means...

Hanamaru: Oh, hi, everyone!

Riko: Hanamaru! Wow, it really worked...

Hanamaru: Hmm? Were you looking for me, zura?

Chika: There's a big fireworks show tonight. Hanamaru, do you wanna come with us?

Hanamaru: Ooh! Yeah, I do, zura! So that's why there are so many people out wearing yukata today.

Kanan: Hanamaru's in, too. We're lucky we ran into her so quickly.

Riko: This store is huge. It would've been rough if we'd had to look on every floor.

Hanamaru: We could've easily missed each other. I'm glad we didn't, zura! Unfortunately, I can't find what I'm looking for...

Chika: You're looking for books, I assume?

Hanamaru: Yup... Maybe they don't have the ones I want.

You: What kind of books? We'll help you find them.

Hanamaru: Thanks. I wrote the titles down. Look here...

Chika: Lemme see. "World's End: The Secrets of the Antarctic." " Chasing the Mysteries of the Amazon." "Encyclopedia of Legendary and Mythological Creatures."

You: Hanamaru...do you have a new hobby or something?

Hanamaru: One of our temple parishioners swears she saw a kappa out at sea. When I heard that, it got me really interested in this stuff, zura!

Riko: A kappa...out at sea? Not in a river?

Chika: That's crazy! Man, if that's true, you might meet one the next time you go diving, Kanan!

Kanan: I'd, uhh...I'd rather not.

Part 3

You: This is it, right?

Hanamaru: Yup, this is the bakery where Ruby, Dia, and Mari said they were stopping for a piece of cake.

Mari: Brilliant!

Kanan: And there we have it.

Riko: No need to double-check that voice.

Chika: Hello! Ruby, Dia, Mari, tonight--

Dia: Mari! We agreed we'd have one slice apiece. When did you order three?!

Ruby: Dia, calm down...

Mari: Berries that shine like jewels, the striking contrast of white whipped cream against dark chocolate cake, the sweet scent of vanilla cream puffs...

Mari: If I were to deprive myself of such beauty, my pure little heart, more fragile than the thinnest wafer, would shatter. I wouldn't be able to perform!

You: Hey, uh... Guys?

Dia: Don't give me that nonsense. If you just eat whatever you want, you'll get fat in no time!

Mari: Not if we work it off. Right, Ruby?

Ruby: Right. Dia, I'm sorry. You can yell at me all you want afterwards, but just this once... I have to!

Dia: Wh-Wha... Ruby, don't tell me you're going to have three, too?! Mari, this is all your fault! You put Ruby up to this!

Mari: I just told her to be true to herself. Besides, Dia, you were staring rather intently at the packaged sweets behind the glass. Or did you think we didn't notice?

Ruby: You were looking pretty hard at the baked meringue and the madeleines. Are you gonna buy them, too?

Dia: Ruby... My little Ruby's being corrupted by Mari!

Mari: Hmm? Oh, my! It's Chika, You, Riko, Hanamaru, and Kanan! Did you all come for some cake, too?

Kanan: Would you quiet down, already? You're bothering the other customers.

Part 4

Chika: Last, but not least, is Yoshiko. Where do you think she'd go?

You: We still have to change into our yukata, so we need to hurry. Did she mention going anywhere?

Ruby: Hmm... Oh, what about here? I think the new game she's been looking forward to goes on sale today.

Riko: Well, let's go in. Maybe we'll get lucky and find her right away, like we did with Hanamaru.

Yoshiko: Whoa! Wh-What the heck? Why is everyone here?

Hanamaru: Yoshiko at 12 o'clock, zura!

You: Sweet! It's her! Yoshiko, are you free tonight? Wanna come with all of us to see the fireworks?

Yoshiko: F-Fireworks?

Mari: Yes! we're going to wear yukata and watch fireworks!

Yoshiko: (Watching fireworks with friends... That's the definition of IRL summertime fun! I can't believe I'm even getting a change at this...)

Yoshiko: (*Gasp* The weather! The sky's... clear. It's gonna be all right!)

Chika: Something wrong? What're you looking all around for?

Yoshiko: Oh, nothing. Anyways, if my cute little demons insist, how can I say no? Yohane shall join you.

You: Yay! That's everyone!

Kanan: Well, let's all get changed and meet back up.

Dia: Would you all care to come to our house? I believe we've got enough yukata for everyone, and we'll help everyone get dressed, too.

Riko: Are you sure? You don't need to go so far out of your way...

Dia: Oh, don't worry about that. It's no trouble at all.

Ruby: We've got lots of different prints and patterns. I'm sure we'll find something for everyone.

Chika: Really? This is so awesome. Thanks a million, Dia. Lead the way!

Part 5

Chika: Ahh, what a nice breeze!

Riko: And what a nice view! The lights look like floating jewels...

You: During the day, it was clear enough to see Mt. Fuji! But now it's too dark to see it well.

Kanan: Dia, I'm sorry we took so much of your time. You did everything for us!

Dia: I said it was no trouble, remember? You all look lovely, by the way.

You: It's starting!

Ruby: Wow! This is so cool! Ooh, that red one was so pretty!

Yoshiko: A proud, brilliant flash one moment, which fades to nothingness just as quickly. Heh, heh. The mortal realm's artisans have some sophisticated techniques.

You: I'm so glad we were all able to come here together.

Chika: It threw me for a loop when I saw it was scheduled for today, but luckily, we all made it.

You: I hope we can all come again together next year.

Mari: AQOURRS!

Kanan: Ack! What the heck?

Mari: You're supposed to shout when fireworks go off, right? I'm just doing it in our own style!

Hanamaru: Usually people just say, "Whoa!" or "Boom!"

Dia: Mari, you are something else.

You: Ah, ha, ha! That's hilarious! Why don't we all do it?

Riko: Why not? I bet it'll feel great to shout at the top of our lungs while looking at such an amazing view.

Chika: Okay, everybody. Get ready...

Together: AAQOURRRRRS!

Epilogue

Chika: That was a great fireworks show!

You: Yup! They were so beautiful.

Riko: I've never wanted fireworks from that high up before. I've only ever seen it on TV.

Kanan: Chika, You, thanks for inviting us.

Ruby: I can still hear them going off. It's kind of sad it had to end.

Yoshiko: I know what you mean. One instant of fun, then it's all over. The gods of time are cruel.

Hanamaru: All this sad talk now that the fun times are over is just making the empty feeling even worse, zura...

Mari: Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end!

Dia: What are you going on about now, Mari?

Mari: Where there is a will, there is a way, and you can buy things like... this!

Chika: A fireworks kit! Where'd you get this?

Mari: After the show was over, I was in such an excited mood, I went around to the stores and online and bought a whole bunch more.

Kanan: Once again your impulses take over... Or maybe it's instinct?

Mari: I've got plenty more back at my house. Why don't we have a second fireworks show of our own?

You: Yes! I love it! Watching the big ones that shoot up into the sky is great, but having fireworks we can light up ourselves sounds like a blast!

Mari: Oh, I've got the ones that launch up into the sky, too.

Ruby: Can we light sparklers? I love watching the little sparks shoot off the ends. It's such a beautiful sight.

Hanamaru: I love them too, zura! They're such a quintessential summer experience.

Yoshiko: Shooting fireworks off with friends... Another fantastic IRL event comes my way. The summer has truly blessed Yohane this year!

Riko: That sounds like tons of fun, but where are we supposed to light all of these off?

Dia: Good point. If we've got the kind that launch up into the air, we'll need a big, wide-open space.

Chika: A big, wide-open space with nothing around... What about the school courtyard?

Dia: Absolutely not!

Riko: Maybe the beach? Although, if we make too much noise, we'll bother the people who live nearby.

Kanan: We should all sit down together after practice and brainstorm to come up with a good spot... while drinking a freshly-brewed iced coffee, of course.

You: A cold one after practice, huh?

Chika: Make mine a cocoa!

Mari: Then it's settled. There's still plenty of summer left!
